Power supply systems

« Back

One of the most essential things about a rolling bridge is its power supply, which generally can be handled in 2 ways:

  • Conductor line power supply system
  • C-rail power supply system
  • Conductor lines are more generally employed because they can be used over longer distances and are more easily extendible.

This system consists of 4 (or more) power carrier channels along which a conductor glides. The result is a running current collector from which a round cable is hanging that provides the rolling bridge with power.  The disadvantage of this system is that it cannot be used in explosion-proof systems.

C-rail power supply systems are better suited for shorter distances and necessarily entail that a great deal of cable is hung in loops on the bridge. The cable hangs in loops, as it were, and moves together with the rolling bridges
  • For this application one always works with a flat cable so that it rolls up better.  This is good for the service life since there is lower voltage present in the cable.

A well-functioning system that can also be used in explosion-proof rooms.
